she got the power in her hands...

it's electric by iAMsunshine033

All along the western front
People line up to receive.
She got the power in her hands
To shock you like you won't believe.

Saw her in the amazon
With the voltage running through her skin
Standing there with nothing on
She's gonna teach me how to swim

I've always liked this song but for some reason I had never
watched the music video.
I watched it and felt like I was watching some sort of weird
flashback from last fall.
In other words, the girl in this video basically is a past me.
I could explain more in depth but it's almost 12:00 a.m. and
I'm trying this new thing
where I actually get a decent amount of sleep.
Mission: Failed. Oh well.

Lyrics
(because I like lyrics and espec. these. P.s. they're really complicated... :-| )

Used to be one of the rotten ones and I liked you for that.

Used to be one of the rotten ones and I liked you for that.

Used to be one of the rotten ones and I liked you for that.

Now you're all gone got your make-up on and you're not coming back.
Can't you come back?

Used to be one of the rotten ones and I liked you for that.

Used to be one of the rotten ones and I liked you for that.

Used to be one of the rotten ones and I liked you for that.
Now you're all gone got your make-up on and you're not coming back.

Bleaching your teeth, smiling flash, talking trash, under your breath.
Bleaching your teeth, smiling flash, talking trash, under your breath.
Bleaching your teeth, smiling flash, talking trash, under your breath.
Bleaching your teeth, smiling flash, talking trash, under my window.

Park that car, drop that phone, sleep on the floor, dream about me.

Park that car, drop that phone, sleep on the floor, dream about me...
Park that car, drop that phone

Park that car, drop that phone (dream about me)

Park that car, drop that phone...

Used to be one of the rotten ones and I liked you for that.
Now you're all gone got your make-up on and you're not coming back...

Please let's be happy on Thursday and the moon will light our way on the ghost highway...

New songs of the hour :-)

"Thursday" Asobi Seksu - I looove.  Asobi Seksu is said to mean "playful sex" in Japanese.  At least that's what Wikipedia says...

"Please Please Please" Shout Out Louds - I'm pretty sure this is on at least two or three commercials or show promos or something. I don't know, it's just fun.

"Happy" Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins - This song makes me smile in a truly, cruelly, ironic sort of way. Why? The lyrics:

I'd rather be lonely, I'd rather be free
I'm as sure as the moon rolls around the sea
But I like watching you undress
And I think we're at our best
By the flicker by the light of the TV set

Cause I can't remember why I hated you
Can't remember why I still do
But I'm as sure as the moon rolls around you
That I could be happy, happy
Oh, so happy, happy
Oh, so happy, so happy

They warn you about killers and thieves in night
I worry about cancer and living right

But my mama never warned me about my own
Destructive appetite

Or the pitfalls of control
How it locks you in your grave
Looking for someone to be saved under my restraint
So I could be happy, happy
Oh so happy, happy
Oh so happy, happy
So happy, so happy

"The Moon" Cat Power - If I was in a romance film, this song would play during a slow dance with the full moon above (duh).  The song is beautiful and she has the most beautiful voice.

"Ghost Highway" Mazzy Star - Check out circa 1991.  Someone pass the heroin please.

While I was gone...

...I discovered delightful ways to waste time on the internet, most notably: Polyvore.

On Polyvore, you can make things like this:

I blogged it, Blair Waldorf said it...

Every superficial bone in my body was as light as a feather last night when in the new Gossip Girl episode Blair glowers over a potential project and asks, "Are those last season's Tory Burch?" Hahahaha! Please refer to this to get why I was so gleeful.

Yes it's a fictional show, yes it's a silly show, and yes it's my guilty pleasure.

So this morning I stumbled out the front door with my ice water in hand (I'm attempting to lay off the caffine) and went down the front steps to where my jeep was parked. A good morning suprise waited for me: my driver's door was ajar and someone had obviously rummaged, ruffled, or, as the police report would later say, "pilfered" through my car. And apparently it wasn't the only car. The policewoman said that there had been around 10 cars in our neighborhood who got burgled, or pilfered, in my case.

Nothing was stolen (I mean...I'm a slightly poor inbetween college student driving a 12 year old car...what valuable am I going to have in there?).

Creepy. So much for Mayberry in Anderson.

Back again back again back againnn

Hiiii.  Me again.  Trying (yet again) to be re-inspired to continue my blog. Ugh.

Updates in brief:
1. Made it through the 1 yr anniversary of Mama's death without consuming large amounts of alcohol or snorting any available pill.  Yay for me!  My preferred method of avoidance was sleeping for most of Sept 17th.
2.  This actually relates closely to #1.  On Sept 18th I randomly got online to check the status of my app for College of Charleston.  According to the lady I spoke with a while back they wouldn't even start looking at apps until late Sept/early Oct.  However, I decided to just check and WAH-LAH! I'VE BEEN ACCEPTED!!! ...My official date of acceptance was Sept 17th...imagine that.  I don't really believe in a lot of things, including coincidences when it comes to things like that.  I was at work when this happened so I had to control my emotions but I found myself penning "Thank You" into the palm of my hand over and over again... I don't know if it was a thank you to God or Mama, or who, but I felt like it was heard/seen.
So there we have it, I'll be continuing my education (FINALLY) in January at the College of Charleston.  Whew. I'm feeling a mixture of relief and excitement and also knowing that this timing is absolutely perfect.
3. I have finally decided about my next tattoo.  Don't feel like going into details (because of the whole "brief update" promise I made earlier) but it involves a daffodil and the last two lines of William Wordworth's poem I wandered lonely as a cloud.
Okay, that's all I can think of right now, but I've got a whole eight hour work day tomorrow to think about anything else. (yay. not.)

Old is new!

Decided to start posting random photos, no matter how old, as long as I actually took them.

Entitled: Man Tattoo Stares at Shoe (Bonnaroo 2008)

"The world we live in is too complex to entrust it to someone else whose idea of intellectual curiosity and grasp of foreign policy issues is to tell us he can look into Vladimir Putin's eyes and see into his soul." - Jack Cafferty, in "Commentary: Is McCain another George W. Bush?" on CNNPolitics.com

Tacky Tory and Co.

For some reason I love to hate Tory Burch shoes. Maybe it's the gaudiness of the of the seal on the toe of nearly every pump, heel, and ballerina flat.

Kind of the same gaudiness that goes with the giant "C" pattern on Coach bags.

Granted, I don't think any of these started out as being tacky. Before every middle schooler felt the need to carry a Coach, Coach bags were relatively classy, "Cs" and all. Before Tory Burch shoes were on the foot of every sorority girl on campus, they were classy too. (p.s. Not bashing sorority girls)

I'm just saying that, like everything that becomes a trend, the feeling of a purchasing something that once seemed like a treat, is now a purchase that blends your feet.

A happy day

I found some pretty pictures of Mama the day of Jennifer's wedding.  She was very very smiley that day. :-)

Week end, Week begin

Sarah's old friend/ex-boyfriend/childhood friend/bestest friend came to visit this weekend with his truly hilarious wife.  Good visit.  He also introduced to me to a fabulous website called mixwit.com.  Talk about addiction.  I've already made three mixes, and I'm pretty sure it's my new favorite toy (for this week at least).  I've also rekindled my obsession for last.fm, another fun site to waste ooddles of time on.

This weekend was pretty low key.  Which is probably a good thing considering my 21st birthday festivities will begin on Wednesday with a family dinner for my actual birthday, then a trip to the irish pub downtown so I can order everyone beer.  Thursday will be Girls Night Out for nice dinner and club.  Then, Friday will be a birthday event which I'm not allowed to know about.  So far my hints have been, "Baby Einstein" and "Raffi."  The first thing I thought about Baby E. was, oh my sisters bought me a lot of weed.  As for Raffi I immediately started singing "I'd like to be, under the sea, in an octopus' garden in the shade"...but apparently we aren't going scuba diving.  So really, I have no idea what those hints could even possibly mean. Guess I'll have to wait and find out.

I'm hoping I can make it through this birthday by focusing entirely on two things, the number "2" and the number "1."  Because if I think about anything else it will be pure misery.  First birthday without my mother. Yay.  I should go on mixwit and make a fantastic mix about that. Ugh.

Anyway.  Looks like it's nap time again.  Though I'm really looking forward to the different events and shindigs, I think my subconscious dread of the whole event is making me extra tired.  I guess this is a case where I'm going to listen to my body and take its advice.  Sleepy time for me.
