Freewrites
I've started this new thing where I just leave a word document open to freewrite randomly and by the end of the day I have a dozen random paragraphs/one-liner thoughts of stuff that pops into my head. Maybe this is something I should start putting up on my blog? I think I will actually...
Just keep in mind these are totally unedited, unpolished thoughts. Otherwise the word "freewrite" would be inaccurate in describing what I'm doing.
I went ahead and post dated yesterday's random accounts.

Random Thoughts of Saturday, June 21, 2008
And I want cloves. Is that weird? I’m not a smoker, never will be, never technically have been. But I want cloves. I like the way they taste, and the little scripty “Bali Hai” at the edge of the filter and the lightness.
New Goal: Organize all of my music. Make lists of stuff I want/need. Get rid of duplicates. Clean up external harddrive with music/movies/etc.

food...
I have and am planning to eat a ton of food today. It's actually rather ridiculous.
Food eaten:
Chic-fil-a wrap
Fries dipped in polynesian sauce (yummy)
Cookies n Cream milkshake
Food (to be) eaten:
Hummus and pita bread (being picked up by my fabulous co-worker)
Okay, so on paper/screen it doesn't look like a lot. But in my stomach it's a freakin' Thanksgiving dinner.
(yes, I'm bored enough at work to sit here and list and analyze all of my food... oh Friday)

Evil bike boys
So by my experiences I have formed a new opinion on men. Basically, any guy that hasn't ever/doesn't ride bikes is fair game. I don't mean, "Oh let's go ride bikes!" I mean, "I'm so badass, I jump things and ride down hills really fast."
By my experiences I have learned they are jackasses.
Probably because they are, in fact, doing something very dangerous, and have tons of scars, and go to the emergency room at least once every three months...which by definition does make them an badass... However their badass behavior spills over into disrespect for people. (Like, ahem, me...)
Case #1 - Girl likes guy, guy doesn't really like girl, but likes the fact that girl likes guy and continues to emotionally abuse her for almost two years. (This of course is girls fault too, but all girls know that at some point they have in their life a true asshole that for some reason they just can't shake.)
Case #2 - Girl thinks she has found nice, mature, older guy. Thinks that he has his head on straight because he has a full-time job, he's successful. First date she finds out he rides bikes. Fast. On mountain side. Should have been a warning sign, but noooooo. And you guessed it ladies and gentleman, he's an asshole.
Case #3 - Girl has always had a weird crush on guy (that, goes without saying, rides bikes) but he is taken and has a really nice, sweet, girlfriend. Guy suddenly starts professing really weird feelings to Girl, while he, in fact, still has a really nice, sweet, girlfriend. From the girlfriend's point of view, he's an asshole.
Three times, three guys, three bikes.
Lesson learned. (Hopefully)
So what are you going to ask the next guy that asks you out? That's right...
"So, do you ride bikes?"

the right thing to do...?
What an interesting situation, one that is extremely confusing to talk about, even for me because the web of relationships get so tangled that it sounds like a bad soap opera.
Out of all of this I guess the question is, what should a person act on? Should a person take something they've always wanted when it presents itself, even if it causes pain in someone they respect (not best friend, but a respected peer)? Or should they take a step back and walk silently for the good of a social circle that really isn't so perfect, and in the long run, really won't even matter?
Oh what to do....
I've asked several opinions and I have one person saying, "Respect the person you are face-value friends with and leave it alone," while another is saying "If someone is lurking outside of their relationship, that relationship is obviously unstable, so bide your time and wait for what you want to be available." Jennifer says this is shyness vs. over-confidence. What am I?
I am not shy. I am not over-confident. I am not a pusher, but I am not a push-over. I know what I want and it seems unreal when it finally presents itself. Why am I willing to let it go? Why am I willing to step back and be silent? Why can't I step up and take it? What am I afraid of?
I don't know the answer to any of those questions... I think time will tell. But what will make me angry is if I find myself being the shy one, being a push-over, being silent...and I watch an opportunity disappear.
P.s. Do I have a sticker on my forehead that says:

list
Taking a note from Koti’s book…here’s my list
1. Bonnaroo
I am still working on a full account of the adventures. Stay tuned for tales of trips, how I got a rash, hippie love of all types, and rockin’ good music.
2. Insurance company underwriters are going to Hell
No need to explain any further, besides the fact that they said because I had Reynaud’s Syndrome it was a “pre-existing” disease and rejected my insurance. Bastards of the Universe. I had to waste my time, and my doctor’s, by going to see him and getting him to say I was “disease free.” He wasn’t happy with them at all, but I was a little less happy because Sarah had to foot my $80.00 non-health insurance-covered doctor’s bill. Ugh.
3. I feel like Super Slacker
This goes back to Sarah having to pay for my doctor’s visit.
4.) I have re-discovered my hatred for the Clemson University Parking police.
Oh wait, they aren’t even real cops. They’re just rent-a-cops on a power trip driving around in their silent killer golf carts attacking students and teachers alike relentlessly. They too may have a place reserved next to the Insurance Underwriters…
5.) I am not happy to be at work.
I feel like this is Day 3 of a hangover. Meaning – I have a headache, my reaction time sucks, I’m speaking slowly, and the fluorescent lighting above my desk is sucking my soul out more than usual. Ugh. Why can’t I be a jobless hippie? (This is not derogatory, I am currently an employed hippie, as opposed to a jobless hippie, which I would prefer to be…)
TaTa for now!

Back
So I've been a horrible blogger. Here's my promise to update and give full details of my fantastic Roo experience (sans the rash I got on my leg from a wet sleeping bag...more details on that loverly event later).
Consider my ticket bought for next year.

Bonnaroo: Day 2
Starting the day with Drive-by Truckers (see Songs of the Hour), then swinging around to State Radio on the Sonic Stage, then Tegan & Sara*ssssso excited!*, The Raconteurs, Rilo Kiley, M.I.A., Willie Nelson (just because it's Willie Nelson, how can you not see him?!), and settling in for Chris Rock funnies and finally....
Metallicaaaaaa!
Okay, speaking of Metallica, here's my confession. I am familiar with maybe 10 of their songs, and even then I can't spout the titles/albums/whatev off the top of my head. But I'm okay with that. Metallica is one of the greats (I don't care who you are, how you dispute that, you know who Metallica is...everyone does --- now that could be disputed by people saying, oh well you've heard of William Hung (or whatev his name was) so does that make him one of the greats --- and then I would call you a knit picking pansy and stop making things difficult when you know what I mean...) and they're on my Top 10 Concerts to see list, so needless to say I'm pretty psyched.
After Metallica I plan to spend the rest of my morning hours raving to Tiesto and MSTRKRFT and jammin with the Disco Biscuits.
Life is good...and not like those stupid t-shirts.

Bonnaroo: Day 1
First show What Made Milwaukee Famous at 5:45. Of course I’m going, Duh, it’s the kick off of Bonnarooooo! Then want to bounce between Back Door Slam, MGMT, and over to Battles and Vampire Weekend in a row at the same stage. Then Lez Zepplin and Dark Star Orchestra…going to have to split those in half since they’re kind of at the same time. Porter Batiste Stoltz for the rest of the night. Not completely familiar with them so it’ll be something new. I read up and they’re very New Orleans (actually I think they be from New Orleans). Super siked.
After a long day of road traveling, traffic sitting, and camp pitching this’ll be a not-so gentle baptismal into four days of Musical Madness…
P.s. Bonnaroo. Cajun slang for "a really good time."
